Can I auto-number more than one field per entity?
Absolutely! You would just need to create one AutoNumber record for each field you’d like to automatically number.
Is PowerAutoNumber guaranteed a unique identifier?
Yes. PowerAutoNumber will generate a unique identifier. This Dynamic CRM autonumber add-on was created because other autonumbers on the market do not guarantee unique identifier. With Microsoft Dynamics CRM in the cloud an organization has multiple CRM/Application servers. Because of this multiple threads can run concurrently. PowerObjects solves the issue by leveraging the cloud. We tested our solution using 10 threads inserting 500,000 records at the same time. 100% success.
Can I use a field value when creating an identifier?
Yes. You can take a value from the record and insert it into the identifier at any location. This allows you to take a field such as depart code and prepend it onto an identifier. You can user PowerAutoNumber to concatenate fields as well. Example you might want to populate a field with the Account Name and Location to display in a list.
Do I have to use the unique number in the identifier?
No. You could generate a unique identifier using random characters, date, time or CRM fields. You do not have to use the unique number in the identifier.
In CRM a unique number appends 4 random characters, can powerAutoNumber append random characters?
Yes. This can be done using the random character expression. {r:4} will insert 4 random characters.
Can I have more than one PowerAutoNumber defined on a given record?
Yes. You can have as many PowerAutoNumbers on a entity as you like.
Can your CRM autonumber add-on use the Day, Month Year in the identifier?
Yes. You can use a date expression in your auto number identifier. Example {d:mm} will insert the current month ’06′. {d:mmddyy} will insert ’06132012′. You can also insert a time Hours, Minutes and Seconds into your identifier.
Can I prepend a constant on my identifier just like Microsoft Dynamics CRM case identifier?
Yes. You can add a constant at any location in the identifier. Example: CASE-{a:5}-{r:4} Or {a:5}-INV
Can PowerAutoNumber update existing records?
Yes! And it’s simple. Do a bulk update to the place holder of the PowerAutoNumber definition.
What if I have a value already in a field? Will PowerAutoNumber overwrite it?
No. If there is already a value in a PowerAutoNumbered field when a record is first saved, the value will be preserved, and the field will not be auto-numbered.
