PowerObjects to Host CodeDay at Minneapolis Headquarters

PowerObjects, a professional services firm 100% focused on providing service, support, education, and add-ons for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, is proud to sponsor and host the 2014 CodeDay event in Minneapolis. Taking place November 8-9 in 24 different cities nationwide, CodeDay brings together students to collaborate and build apps and games over a 24-hour period.

CodeDay is put on by StudentRND, a Seattle-based non-profit committed to educating students from middle school through college about programming and engineering. StudentRND’s CodeDay initiative continues to grow and expand its influence, with the upcoming event expected to attract over 2,000 participants nationwide.

This is the second CodeDay event that PowerObjects has hosted at its North Loop Minneapolis headquarters. The first event was held in May 2014 with over 15 participants. There are currently spots still available for up to 50 students. Attendees are not required to know how to code to participate in the event.

"The first CodeDay we hosted was a complete success. There were some really innovative ideas that the groups came up with," says Dean Jones, CEO at PowerObjects. "I am excited to see what happens this time around!"

Participants in CodeDay do not have pre-set goals for the 24-hour time frame, but instead are encouraged to express ideas and form groups based on common interests. Students then spend the bulk of the 24 hours brainstorming, developing, and building games and apps. At the end of the 24 hours, each team presents what they have developed over the past 24 hours.

"CodeDay is about a giving young people a unique, organic platform on which to develop some great ideas," says Jones. "I think PowerObjects is a perfect place to host this type of event—we pride ourselves on living the technology and always striving to build new and exciting things."
