A More Powerful PowerOneView

Post Author: Joe D365 |

As many of our readers probably know, PowerObjects offers a long list of very powerful Add-ons for CRM called PowerPacks. Our development team has enhanced the PowerOneView add-on to now allow access to all relationship types (One-to-Many, Many-to-One, and Many-to-Many). In previous versions of PowerOneView, users could only rollup records from related child entities.

PowerOneView already helps with CRM user adoption by providing all the information a user needs in one spot. So how do these added relationship types help you or your users? In today's blog, we will take a look at specific examples on how you can utilize this enhancement.

As more organizations take advantage of the salesforce automation that CRM provides, users are constantly struggling with seeing the data they want, where they want it. If a user is viewing an Opportunity, but needs to see an activity from the related Account record, they would have to navigate away to the Account record and then view the activity. With the new enhancements to PowerOneView, you can now add the Account activities, and any other related entities, to the opportunity!

Let's take a look at how to set this up. If you have not installed and configured PowerOneView yet, you can download it here.

1. Navigate to Settings, then Solutions and open the PowerOneView solution. Once the solution has been opened, click on the Setup tab:

1

2. Select the desired Opportunity and click on the Add Related button.

3. A popup window will appear. From here, you can filter relationship types or scroll through the list to select what relationship you would like to add. In this example, we are going to select Account, Contact and Originating Lead.

4. You will now see that Account, Contact and Originating Lead have been added to the list, but we still need to choose which of the related Account records should be viewable. Now select the Account menu and click on Add Related.

5. A popup window will appear, select Activities (Regarding), and now click Add. Repeat this step for the Contact and Originating Lead.

6. Your setup should now look like the screenshot below.

7. Now that you have added the activities to PowerOneView, you need to configure the Reading Pane to show the details of the activity. When you click Save, you will receive the following warning message if the Reading Pane and Grid View have not been set up.

8. To setup the Reading Pane, select the Field Mapping tab. Once you are on this form, select Activity from the drop down menu.

9. Now you can simply drag and drop the form fields over to the Grid Mapping and the Reading Pane.

  • The Grid Mapping will be the fields that will are displayed in the Name, Detail, and Date columns of the PowerOneView grid.
  • The Reading Pane mapping will display the desired form fields in the Reading Pane, found on the right hand side of the screen in PowerOneView.

10. Once you have completed the mapping, you can click Save.

Let's check this out in action now! We have configured PowerOneView to be viewable on the Opportunity form. This allows the user to view this valuable related information with fewer clicks. You now have the activities associated with the Account, Contact, or Lead displayed from this child record!

And there you have it readers! PowerOneView is only one of many great PowerObjects' add-ons that can take your current Microsoft CRM functionality to the next level! You can view all of the PowerPacks we have to offer by visiting our website. Try out one with a free, 30-day trial today!
