Create a Marketing List to Follow Up on Your CRM Bulk Email Campaign

Post Author: Joe D365 |

PowerMailChimp is one of many PowerPack add-ons that provides specific functionality to your Microsoft Dynamics CRM system. This add-on gives CRM users the power to perform their bulk emailing out of CRM while automatically relating the send, open, click, bounce, and unsubscribe statistics back to CRM contacts, leads, or accounts.

After you've sent out a bulk email campaign through PowerMailChimp and all of the sends, opens, clicks, bounces, and unsubscribes have been tracked back into CRM, you will likely want to do some follow-up based on their response. For example, what if you wanted to send some additional information to anyone who clicked on the link in your bulk email to learn more about your monthly "special offer"?

Since that click activity is stored in CRM, related back to the contact, lead, or account who clicked on the link, it's easy to follow up with these people by sending them another bulk email. Here's how:

  1. To start, build a dynamic marketing list that includes contacts who clicked on your offer link in the last bulk email we sent out.

(Note: Since marketing lists can't be built off of more than one entity, you will need to create a separate marketing list for each type of entity you sent the original blast to—contact, lead, and account.)
  2. After you've built this list, specifying your criteria, you will sync this marketing list with MailChimp, create your template, and send out the PowerMailChimp blast as normal. You can also choose to follow up with recipients that have opened a previous blast, or you can even send a follow-up blast to recipients who haven't opened a previous blast.
  3. To pull the follow-up marketing list, start with a static marketing lis, built out of contacts. Use an advanced find to add members to the list, and add all recipients of the previous PowerMailChimp blast.

  4. Now click on Manage Members again, and choose to remove members who HAVE opened the previous blast.

This leaves you with a list of contacts who have not opened the previous PowerMailChimp blast. You can now use this marketing list to send another blast, or follow up with these customers in some other way.

Happy CRM'ing!

  1. This is really very useful, in fact a must for Marketing. Can you suggest if we can incorporate this into CRM workflow, instead of doing it manually? Is it possible to send a blast using CRM workflow? Your response will be immensely appreciated. Thanks
