One of the top 10 new features of Dynamics CRM 2013 is the flat user interface. This allows you to click on a link and then the record opens in the same window. If you haven't upgraded yet though, you might not prefer that the records each pop open in their own window when you are using the browser version.
The good news is this: the "pop-up overload" is an Internet Explorer setting and it is very easy to change. The screenshots below are of IE11, but the same instructions will work for IE10 and IE9 as well.
Now you can enjoy Dynamics CRM records in one tabbed Internet Explorer browser window instead of a bunch of windows.
It's as simple as that! Remember to follow our blog for education and updates. And as always… Happy CRM'ing!
Howdy, is there a similar solution for tab browsing in Chrome? I have been unable to find an answer on the internet?
Hi - With Chrome there is no automatic way. But there is a nifty short cut. HOld down CTRL while opening a window will cause chrome to open the window in a new tab.
Any idea if there's an automatic solution in sight?
Thanks for the nifty short cut.
This isn't working. When clicking on a record in CRM 2013, the record still opens in the same tab, rather than a new one. I'm using IE11
Hi MC,
You are right, this does NOT work with CRM 2013+ because they changed the under-the-hood browsing behavior, i.e. the flat user interface.
It is working if I right-click and select "open in new window", however it is not success if I press the mouse wheel, any idea?? thanks !!
I am using CRM online 2015. Is there a script/ setting that would allow users to right click fields to open on a new tab or at least a new window. Perfect example is on Contact form where the User would right click on the Account name to open the account on a new browser session.
