Favorite PowerObject
I'm excited about our new efforts in powerHR. This product adds great value to all organizations that are looking to automate the collection of standard applications. It has been of great value to school districts that have a large number of applications to process and are always working on a tight budget. powerHR allows them to run software-as-a-service (SaaS) and keep the cost of a robust solution down to small monthly fee. It's exciting to see where this product is going.
Profile
Founded in 1993 as a humble two-person development and consulting firm, Dean has turned PowerObjects into a multi-million dollar product and service company. With a major in Marketing, a minor in Economics, and three years of computer programming at Anderson Consulting, Dean was poised for success. During his last year with Anderson, Dean became a PowerBuilder expert and was anxious to use his skills on the open market.
For the first few years of PowerObjects' existence (then known as PowerTeam), Dean would find projects, get them started, hire a contractor to do the programming, and then move on to the next sale. Eventually, the projects were rolling in at such a clip that Dean was ready to expand.
By the late 1990s, the PowerObjects staff had grown to about 27 employees. The PowerObjects application smlPortal is Dean's baby; he developed the program because three different clients were asking for a way to bring their PowerBuilder data windows to the Web.
Today, PowerObjects continues to grow. The company specializes in web site development, software resale, content management systems, and custom application development.
