DataWindow Filter

The filter object is a non-visual class user object that allows users to filter on a value from the column. The filter object is designed to look just like Microsoft's Excel filter. When the user clicks on the down arrow the object generates a distinct list from the column the arrow is over. The user can then click on a value in the list a filter the DataWindow by the selected value. Note the user can also select all. If the column has a filter on the arrow shows up in blue. User can apply multiple filter to one DataWindow. The filtered list formats itself to be like the column its over. The filter object works by using a default naming convention for the down arrow bitmap. If the column is column "1" then the bitmap needs to be named "filterdown01". So to us the filter object simply paste a bitmap in the DataWindow object header "down.bmp" and name it "filterdownXX" where "XX" is the number of the column you want to filter.

Note: This object does not hit the database again to lookup a distinct list!

To use this object you need to write a lot of code! Yes? No... In the constructor event of the DataWindow add one line of code.

//Constructor Event
uf_Create( "Filter" )

This service can easily be extended into the Powersoft Foundation Class (PFC).
