Importing Values to Time Zone Fields in Dynamics CRM

Post Author: Joe D365 |

The Import Wizard is a great way to get a lot of records into CRM in a short amount of time – make sure you're using it when you can! That being said, have you ever wanted to import data that included a Time Zone? For Time Zones, the import templates require a Whole Number. Are you wondering where can you get that? We'll show you! In this example, we want to import Facilities/Equipment into CRM.

Here's how to make it happen:

  1. Notice that the Facility/Equipment form requires Name, Business Unit and Time Zone.

2.  To access the import template in CRM 2013, navigate to the Data Management Area of Settings.

3.  While populating the template, note that the Time Zone field calls for a Whole Number.

4.  Recruit your SDK Expert to get the CRM Time Zone Codes by retrieving Time Zone information (or just reference the chart below!)

5.  Enter the applicable Time Zone Code value for each Facility/Equipment record on the import template and process the import file.

Time Zone Codes can be useful on Facility/Equipment, Site, or any custom field with the Type Whole Number and Format Time Zone. For more information on Time Zones and Date/Time functionality, please visit the PowerObjects blog.

Happy CRM'ing!
