Migrating Data from C2CRM to Dynamics CRM

Post Author: Joe D365 |

At PowerObjects, we assist our customers with data migrations to Microsoft Dynamics CRM from all sorts of applications. If you want to migrate data from C2CRM, which uses the Lotus Notes database, to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you can! This is the process PowerObjects follows when doing a migration from C2CRM to Dynamics CRM:

Migrating from C2CRM to Dynamics CRM

Here are a few things to keep in mind when working with Lotus notes database if you don't have the SQL Exporter for C2CRM (which is an expensive proprietary tool).

  • Export format: We export Lotus notes data in XML format. This creates a file for each source record. The export is done for Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Notes, etc.
  • Since there will be lots of files, make sure that you have enough disk space to store all those data files.
  • You will not be able to export all the data at once, so you will need to export small chunks out of Lotus Notes.
  • Make sure to replace all the XML tags with appropriate characters once the data is in SQL. For example, when the data gets exported to XML, it will have a tag for carriage return. You will need to replace this with actual carriage return in SQL.
  • As always, plan for the final data migration (weekend or even more time) based on the amount of data to be migrated.

Happy CRM'ing!
