Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Spring Update 2015 provided fantastic upgrades for the navigation bar at the top of the screen. It is now easier than ever to use CRM through any browser or touch interface with these new changes. This blog post will explain some of these new additions, including the switch module, most recently used button, and the quick create button.
Out with the old…
With the old Navigation bar, users scrolled to the right to access other tiles not in their direct view. The drop down menu would show all the features users needed, but for some organizations that have a lot of records in a particular area, it required scrolling to the right to get at more content.
Here’s an example of the old navigation:
…and in with the new!
The new navigation bar utilizes the three line stack button (the grey button shown below), known as the switch module. The switch module shows all options under groups they belong with. The tiles are smaller, so more fit into a grouping, while the bar at the top is wider and easier to see. These size changes make this navigation style easier to use on mobile devices like cellphones and tablets, and the group arrangement allows for faster access to the areas you’re looking for.
The new navigation style can be found on other drop down menus on the navigation bar. Clicking on the clock icon (shown below on the right side of the menu bar) will bring up most recently used items. Additionally, users can pin items that they use frequently and want to save. This makes for an easy and efficient way to find commonly used services in CRM.
Another feature is the quick create button, which, as the name suggests, brings up a simple and easy-to-use menu to create common CRM tasks in a flash.
These new features are exciting additions to CRM that greatly increase ease of use and speed of creation, and we’re excited for you to check it out!
