Dynamics CRM Spring Wave Update 1: Theming

Post Author: Joe D365 |

We have already covered some of the exciting out-of-the-box user interface changes introduced by the Carina update in our Top 10 Features blog. As if those updates were not exciting enough, this Spring Wave is also introducing the concept of Theming.

Theming will allow a CRM administrator to add their own company logo to CRM, as well as change the colors of the user interface. An administrator can navigate to Settings > Customizations, where they will find the new “Themes” option.

By clicking on it, you can create a brand new theme or clone an existing theme. The theme editor is extremely simple and all you need to do is choose a logo and the colors to be used in your theme as you can see below. From this theme editor, you can also click on the Preview button in order to see what your theme will look like before publishing it to all users.

Once you publish your theme, all users will see your chosen branding when logging into CRM. The screenshot below shows you an example of a CRM theme.

    1. HI Hammad - Unfortunately this will only be available for on premises in the fall release. So folks on premises will have to wait about 5-6 moths for these new features. Online will have two releases a year and on prem a single release a year.

  1. Thanks for the useful article. My organization is updated to CRM 2015 (Update 1) recently. Everyone in my organization is able to view new theme that I customized excluding a user with different role. I gave all the access equally but still user is unable to view theme. Do I have to assign any specific access for this user to view new theme? Can u help me on this?

    1. HI Gomathi - Have teh user clear the browsers cache or try a new browser. We have seen scenarios were teh browser will cache and new themes don't take effect until the cache is cleared.

        1. To rule our security role issue - make the user an admin temporarily jsut to see if themes then work ok?

          1. Yes, just did that. I think it is not security role issue. Coz, even after giving system admin role, user is unable to view theme.
