Microsoft Dynamics for Mac OS X - CRM UR 12

You may remember our post on running Microsoft Dynamics CRM on Mac OS X from a few months back. Back then, we utilized a handy virtualization tool called Parallels to run a virtual instance of Windows 7 on Apple’s Mac OS X, and thus we were able to run Dynamics CRM and Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Outlook. The look and feel using Parallels’ feature Coherence was almost like having Dynamics CRM run natively on Mac OS X.

Well, “almost” is no more! With the release of Update Rollup 12 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online and CRM 2011 On Premise, Dynamics CRM users from all around can now run their CRM organizations in Safari on Mac OS X. Users can also run their CRM instances in Chrome and Firefox on Windows as well. The updated CRM UI looks brilliant with the stock Mac OS X UI. Make sure you check out the usual full-screen Safari view with CRM as well, as it’s a fantastic way to use your Dynamics CRM organization!

All out-of-the-box Dynamics CRM functionality is fully operational in CRM on Safari for Mac OS X. As of now, both OS X 10.7 (Lion) and 10.8 (Mountain Lion) are supported with the latest and greatest version of Safari. Check out this Microsoft Support KB for more detailed UR12 compatibility information.

Additionally, PowerPack add-ons for Dynamics CRM Online and 2011 On Premise run smoothly in Safari. Check out our super-handy PowerOneView add-on running in Safari on OS X 10.7 Lion.

Or check out one of the newest add-ons for robust event planning and management, PowerZapEvent. It all runs great on Safari:

As of right now, Microsoft is developing server-side sync so that CRM for Mac OS X users can properly track and sync CRM email as well. Certain custom-code functionality for Dynamics CRM customizations are also being tailored by Microsoft to be standard’s compliant with Safari, so stay tuned to this thread for updates regarding Dynamics CRM for Safari enhancements in the near future! Remember, if your Dynamics CRM organization has been updated to UR12, turn on legacy code support in the System Setting page, and check out our blog on it here.
